My work is centered on building tools and platforms for the people that models and systems ignore, starting in Central Asia.

About me

Hi! I'm Ali-Mansur, a Year 13 student at Dubai College studying Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Computer Science, with an EPQ. I have explored these subjects through international olympiads, research with professors and labs, and initiatives I lead.

Coming from a Central Asian background as half-Kazakh and half-Uzbek, I am passionate about using my knowledge to build solutions to problems in the region. My primary interest is building tools for the people that models miss, including herders absent from land-allocation models, endangered wildlife missed by energy plans, and rural students without access to quality education.

In Central Asia, I founded EcoEducation, a free climate and economics curriculum in six languages, built with NGOs, firms and schools across Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and India. Its purpose is to give students without access to global education the chance to learn climate science and economics. It has reached 12,000+ rural students, and we have trained 120+ ambassadors. I also research the hidden risks of Central Asia's energy transition. I have written three sole-author IEEE papers, all presented in October 2026, on solar siting that keeps pastoralists on their land, an early-warning system for the endangered steppe eagle, and the hidden economic risks of solar in Kazakhstan, where 57% of construction spending leaves the country.

Beyond Central Asia, I research and build at the intersection of economics and computer science. Lock In, a study planner built on portfolio theory and behavioural economics, has 550 active users, a $10,000 Emergent Ventures grant and papers at IEEE URTC, IEEE TALE and CMU SBP-BRiMS. With AlziDetect, I work on low-cost Alzheimer's screening, motivated by the elders I know in my family's city of Bukhara, published at IEEE COMPSAC.

Outside of research, I lead. I'm President of the Dubai Keynes Society, which runs a national essay prize (119 entries); Co-President of the Dubai Computer Science Society, which grew from 50 to 450+ members; and President of the DC Sustainability Club, which ran the UAE's first flagship interschool climate competition. I also founded TeamUp, which connects students without networks to teams across 60 schools in 15 countries. I swim, play piano and drums, and I was a House Captain last year.

My work.

My work asks one question: which people and which risks do standard models miss? It starts in Central Asia, with EcoEducation and research on who loses out in Kazakhstan's energy transition. The same question runs through everything else: Lock In, on how students split their study time; AlziDetect, for elders that dementia screening misses; and finance, where I study hidden and tail risk.
